Brewery news

The growing beer scene in Port Wayne, northeast Indiana will soon be adding yet another brewery to its list with the upcoming opening of Trubble Brewing, 21Alive reported on November 6.

Recent studies show that for a city the size of Fort Wayne, beer consumers have been significantly under-served with locally-produced beer.

That's why Trubble owner Chad Hankee says he is excited to join the ranks of other local beer makers to get his home brews out of the garage and into the hands of local beer enthusiasts.

"As a home brewer, you're normally hanging out in the garage, friends are over and you're brewing beer, drinking beer," Hankee explains. "It's kind of the same, just now on a commercial level for everybody."

Despite the growing number of breweries popping up across the region, Hankee says he welcomes the company. In fact, according to him, a number of the breweries rely on each other rather than compete with each other.

"I look at it as more of a brotherhood. Blaine (Stucky) at Mad Anthony's has been a great person to go to when you have questions for when you're trying to open a brewery. But there's a certain amount of a brotherhood with other breweries. I mean, if we go to craft beer shows, it's just a cool place to be. It's a cool industry to be involved in."

Once Trubble Brewing officially tap the kegs on November 25th, the brewery will serve up a mix of their own, as well as other regional beers. Coupled with that will be a menu full of locally-sourced food.
