Hungary: In Supervisory Board meeting of Brau Union Hungária Sörgyarak Rt., 15th September 2004, the current General Manager of Brau Union Hungária Sörgyarak Rt., Mr Edmund Ranftl, has announced his resignation due to personal reasons. The Supervisory Board has accepted his decision.

His successor is Mr Alle Ypma, who has taken the role as General Manager and has simultaneously given up his Supervisory Board Mandate of BRAU UNION AG.

Alle Ypma began his career with the company over 30 years ago in the International Marketing and Export Management field. In 1990, he was appointed as Coordinating Regional Director for Europe. In 1994, he became Director for the sector Rest of Europe and in 1999 he was assigned as General Manager of Grupa Zywiec in Poland. At the same time, he held numerous Supervisory Board positions. Until May 2004, Mr Ypma was General Manager of Karlovacka Pivovara in Croatia.

Whilst Mr. Ypma formally take on the position of General Manager as of 16th September 2004, Mr. Ranftl will remain with Brau Union Hungária for such time as is necessary for a smooth handover of all his responsibilities to his successor.

In 2003, Heineken gained control of Brau Union Hungaria, after the group’s merger with Austria’s Brau Union AG, which held 85.3% of the shares of Brau Union Hungaria and 93.2% of the voting rights. At present, Amstel, also a member of the Heineken group, has a stake of 93.2% in the Hungarian brewery. Brau Union said earlier that it forecasts 2004 revenue to break US$221.3m.
