Brewery news

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company, one of the state’s most popular breweries, said on December 15 it would open a new location in downtown Phoenix, KTAR.com reported.

In a blog post, the brewery said it planned to open near Second and Roosevelt streets in spring 2019.

“We believe that Phoenix, one of the planet’s youngest cities, is ripe for greatness,” the post written by the brewery’s founder, Jonathan Buford, read.

“The hanging fruit is ready for the pickin’. We will be bringing our experiences from travel to a downtown that is on the cusp of a cultural explosion.”

The new location will offer a counter-style restaurant that serves burgers, wine, cocktails and, of course, beer.

“We will combine the goodness of our Arizona beef burgers and the multitude of Arizona produce, raised by farmers that we trust and admire,” Buford wrote.

It will also have a large patio beer garden designed to mix German and American hangouts.

“The massive outdoor space will showcase Arizona trees and plants which will be an open environment allowing the patio gardens to be enjoyed wherever you prefer to sit,” Buford wrote.

The brewery said customers should expect an “awesome” to-go beer program that will allow it to greatly expand its bottle and can inventory.

Arizona Wilderness has enjoyed quite a bit of success since opening its doors four years ago near Arizona Avenue and Guadalupe Road.

Its Refuge IPA was named the best beer in the state last year and, in 2014, it was named the best new brewhouse on the planet.
