UK: Total beer consumption in Britain declined an average 3 % per person annually between 1998 and 2003, according to Datamonitor figures. Women account for 24 % of the beer market, Datamonitor said. In 2003 every Briton consumed an average 101.5 litres of beer, according to Brewers of Europe figures.

According to the same source, beer consumption in Spain and Italy is to increase in next years at the expense of wine as southern Europeans turn to beer.
