Brewery news

Specializing in small-batch craft beers, the Bradenton area’s newest brewery, 3 Car Garage Brewing — so-named because the business started out in the owner’s three-car garage — recently made its debut, the Bradenton Herald reported on December 27.

The new brewery, located at 8405 Heritage Green Way, Bradenton, north of State Road 64 (behind a Taco Bell and a Dairy Queen in a retail shopping center) is a long-time dream of two local couples, Stu and Chris Drymon and Darrell and Susie Jackson.

“We wanted outdoor space and plenty of parking and this fit the bill,” said Stu Drymon, who also serves as brewmaster. This week, guests could be seen at the 35-foot long bar inside the brewery and at a picnic table on a patio outside.

“Our goal is to make beer for everyone, with lagers and Pilsners on tap,” he said. “Everything on the tap wall is what I want to drink. We will do some experimental brews, but we’re not going to go too much on the crazy side.”

Among the intriguing and colorful selections — from a list of more than 15 — this week:

▪ Identity Crisis - IPA, West Coast hoppy and East Coast sloppy. Citrus notes and haze in a Pilsner malt base.

▪ Mole Porter - Chocolate malts, cocoa, cumin, cinnamon, peanut and chipotle pepper. Porter with a kick.

▪ Willie’s Fruit Stand IPA - Hazy, malt forward East Coast style IPA. Double dry hopped with Cascade, Comet and Amarillo Hops. Orange-Grapefruit nose.

▪ Pretty ‘n Pink - Our first sour offering. Raspberries give it a subtle pink color. Dry and refreshing tartness make you want another sip.

“The beer constantly moves. Some are on their third batch since we opened in November,” Drymon said.

The menu includes ciders and seltzers as well. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, there is also a food truck at the brewery.

Mike Folino was having a beer at the long bar with a friend this week.

“It’s close to the house and the people are friendly. We can find beer here that my wife and I like to drink,” Folino said.

Planned events include Tri-County Jeepers January Social 5-8 p.m. Jan. 4, South Florida Car Club January Social 2-6 p.m. Jan. 11, and 3 Car Garage Brewing’s grand opening 7- 11 p.m. Jan. 18.

The business is open 2-9 p.m. Monday, 4-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon - 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon - 8 p.m. Sunday.
