Brewery news

In exciting news, popular South Shore brewery, Untold Brewing, is expanding its presence at Derby Street Shops. In addition to its seasonal beer garden, which is now beginning its second season on The Green, Untold Brewing will open a year-round brewery, taproom, and restaurant at the property in Fall 2022. The new location will feature Untold’s full lineup of high-quality ales and lagers, plus new, limited releases. This new concept will also feature a restaurant developed in partnership with Clandestine Kitchen, the award-winning home meal delivery service and private chef catering company launched by Hingham resident, Courtney Doyle, the Hingham Anchor reported on June 2.

Upon opening at Derby Street, Untold’s new location will bring together its popular beer and Clandestine Kitchen’s menu of fresh, healthy meals to guests from the South Shore and beyond. Guests will find over a dozen different beers on tap, some of which will be exclusive to Derby Street, as well as non-alcoholic drinks and a seasonally inspired menu of salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, and small plates all highlighting quality and locally sourced ingredients. The 2,300 square foot space will include a mix of comfortable seating and casual standing room where guests can place orders for drinks and food digitally or at the counter, as well as order packaged beer and prepared meals to-go.

Untold Brewing’s new location will share the same family-friendly atmosphere, casually elegant design and focus on hospitality that has made its Scituate taproom a favorite destination while incorporating elements that make it unique to Derby Street. Inspired by Untold’s 1852 antique schoolhouse in Scituate, the taproom will have a recognizable look and feel that customers have come to love. In a nod to their shared commitment to sustainability, specific efforts are being made in the construction and daily service practices to reduce the business’ environmental footprint to the bare minimum, including the use of 100% compostable service items eliminating thousands of gallons of water use per year.

Well known as active members in the community, Untold and Clandestine Kitchen will utilize their new location to host a variety of programming including yoga classes, live acoustic music, special dinners, cooking classes and other community-driven events throughout the year.

“Hingham and Derby Street Shops has quickly become Untold Brewing’s second home. We cannot wait to open the doors on this next chapter in our story and welcome you to a truly unique experience of great beer, food, and hospitality in the heart of the South Shore’s premier shopping destination.” remarked Mike Dyer, Co-owner of Untold Brewing and Hingham resident.

“The support we’ve received from WS Development and the Town of Hingham for this project has been nothing short of extraordinary. We will be hard at work this summer bringing the vision to reality, while operating our summer beer garden just a few doors down at The Green. If all goes according to plan we will be celebrating our brewery’s 5th anniversary this fall in both Scituate and Hingham,” says Matt Elder, Founder and President of Untold Brewing.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting collaborative brick-and-mortar destination alongside one of our favorite local businesses, Untold Brewing. We look forward to offering our scratchmade, locally sourced, farm-to-table menus to our community in a new creative way at The Derby Street Shops,” added Courtney Doyle, Founder/Owner of Clandestine Kitchen.

“The news of the beer garden’s return was so well received that we could not wait to tell our guests Untold Brewing will be staying on property with a year-round location. The space will extend the same fun, family-friendly experience as the beer garden, while offering even more community programming, and delicious meals by Clandestine Kitchen. Untold has been an amazing partner to us and will be a very welcomed addition to our dining mix this year,” says Meaghan Cazeault, Marketing Director of Derby Street Shops.

Untold Brewing will be located on the corner next to Talbots at Derby Street.
