E-Malt.com News article: USA, OH: Saucy Brew Works announces acquisition of Cartridge Brewing
Brewery news

A Cleveland-based brewery chain and Kings Mills' Cartridge Brewing will soon become one, Cincinnati.com reported on December 2.

Saucy Brew Works, founded in 2017, announced on December 1 that it would acquire the historic craft brewery. This will be the brand's fifth location in Ohio. Saucy Brew Works also has one location in Detroit, Michigan.

Located along the Little Miami River banks, Cartridge Brewing resides in the old Peters Cartridge Co. factory, built in the 1880s. In addition to the brewery, the former factory also houses 134 apartments.

According to a press release, the Cartridge Brewing team will continue to make its signature beer in its historic facility using newly acquired Saucy Brew Works resources and knowledge. With this merger, customers can expect to see several new beers along with Cartridge classics, the press release states.

Select Cartridge beer will also be on draft at all Saucy Brew Works locations. Plans to increase Cartridge’s distribution are in development.

“We’re exceptionally proud of the reputation the brand has built and when looking toward the future we knew finding an organization that could take Cartridge to the next level was critical,” said Cartridge Brewing founder Kyle Hackbarth in a statement. “Saucy Brew Works with their top quality beer, guest experience focused brewpubs, community focused culture, and being right here in Ohio was a natural fit.”

Brent Zimmerman, co-founder and CEO of Saucy Brew Works, also commented on the brand's expansion to Greater Cincinnati.

“I am a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and when Kyle and I connected about this opportunity, we visited the facility and instantly fell in love with the architecture, setting, and deep history of The Peters Cartridge Company and the surrounding buildings,” he said.

The press release states that the goal of the merger is to preserve the history of the Peters Cartridge factory, support the local community and bring Saucy Brew Works brewing and culinary offerings to Southern Ohio.
