Baikal Brewing Company in Irkutsk has been renamed Heineken Brewery Baikal, the company said in a press release, Interfax communicated October 03.

The company is a wholly owned Heineken subsidiary.

The company was renamed as part of a legal reorganization and the process of integrating breweries into Heineken's structure in Russia.

"The name change emphasizes all the qualitative, integrated changes that have occurred in the brewery's activities over the last year. The new name fully reflects the brewery's affiliation with Heineken's global structure, the continuity of its overall development strategy and the high quality of products coupled with the company's regional specifics, Rolan Pirmez, president of Heineken in Russia, is quoted as saying in the release.

Heineken Brewery Baikal is one of the largest producers of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in Eastern Siberia. The brewery has production capacity of one million hectoliters per year.

In addition to the Baikal brewery, Heineken owns another nine breweries in various parts of Russia.
