Boissons du Cameroun introduced a new beer brand on October 9, 2026, adding to its product range in a market where it holds a dominant position. The new brand, Mboa, has a recommended retail price of CFAF 500 for a 50-centiliter bottle, with distribution beginning in the Littoral Region before expanding to other parts of the country, Business in Cameroon reported.
At the product's unveiling in Douala, the company presented figures on its purchases from Cameroonian suppliers and reiterated its target of increasing local content in its operations to 60%.
According to figures presented by the company, Boissons du Cameroun purchased 3,000 tonnes of processed maize from local supplier MAISCAM, involving a network of 1,512 agricultural producers. It also reported purchasing 12,000 tons of sorghum from Cameroonian farmers. The company did not specify how much of these locally sourced materials would be used to produce Mboa.
The brewer has been expanding its agricultural sourcing operations for several years. According to Business in Cameroon, its sorghum purchases increased from 8,000 to 12,000 tonnes following the integration of Guinness Cameroon's assets. The company also produces glass packaging through its subsidiary, SOCAVER, which reports annual output of 45,000 tonnes.
Following its acquisition of Guinness Cameroon's assets, Boissons du Cameroun accounted for approximately 80% of the country's beer market, according to Business in Cameroon. Its revenue reached CFAF 729 billion in 2023.
The company is also undertaking equipment upgrades and production capacity improvements at its facilities in Douala, Yaounde, Bafoussam and Garoua.
