Brewery news USA: Mexican beer sales hit hard by Trump’s immigration crackdown
Constellation Brands is a leading U.S. beverage alcohol company known for distributing popular Mexican beers like Corona and Modelo. It also has a diverse portfolio that includes wine and spirits. As of late, it reported that President Trump’s immigration policies are harming sales among Hispanic consumers, who make up roughly half of the company’s market, Foodbeast reported on June 6.

CEO Bill Newlands noted that fears of deportation and potential job losses have led to reduced spending from this target demographic.

Despite Modelo becoming America’s top beer brand in 2023, Constellation is now facing new challenges. Nielsen data indicates that beer purchases among Hispanic consumers have declined by 7% to 9% in 2025, which could be an indicator that social gatherings, which include beer consumption are diminishing due to increasing consumer anxiety regarding prices.

How does a massive company such as Constellation survive this turbulent time? The solution is in the people. The company must broaden its marketing strategy to appeal to a wider audience beyond its traditional Hispanic base. Newlands mentioned that increased advertising is yielding some positive returns. Only time will tell whether marketing toward a wider audience will help combat the decreased sales along with the fact that the next ...More info on site

Brewery news USA, NH: Harpoon Brewery targets growth market with first New Hampshire location
Harpoon Brewery, one of New England’s most established craft beer brands, is making its first foray into New Hampshire with the opening of a full-scale brewery and public house in Manchester on June 15. The expansion—Harpoon’s first new location since its Boston Seaport and Windsor, Vermont facilities—signals a strategic push into a mid-sized metro area with strong market potential and growing regional draw, Craft Brewing Business reported on June 5.

Located at 215 Canal Street in the heart of downtown Manchester, Harpoon at Queen City Center will feature a 3.5-BBL experimental brewhouse, a 215-seat indoor taproom and restaurant, an 82-seat outdoor beer garden, and dedicated event space for private functions and live entertainment.

“We’ve long had a strong fan base across the Northeast,” said Charlie Storey, VP of Special Events and Brewery Festivals for Harpoon. “Opening in Manchester allows us to grow our presence in a vibrant, accessible city that’s still underserved by destination craft experiences. This new location fits right into our long-term strategy of building localized, community-forward public houses that also function as R&D and brand engagement hubs.”

The 9,216-square-foot venue reflects a growing trend among regional breweries to expand customer-facing operations in second-tier cities while diversifying revenue streams through food ...More info on site

Barley news EU & Ukraine: EU farmers welcome return of Ukraine wheat and barley quotas
European farmers welcomed the European Union's re-introduction of quotas on June 6 for Ukrainian wheat and barley as a small boost to their market, but they still face global price competition as Ukraine tries to export elsewhere, MSN reported on June 6.

The European Union waived duties and quotas on Ukrainian agricultural products following Russia's full-scale invasion three years ago.

It later capped volumes on some Ukrainian produce, including sugar, following an outcry from farmers over the price competition it posed.

It did not limit volumes of wheat and barley, however, and more than 4 million metric tons of Ukrainian wheat were imported into the EU since the start of the 2024/25 season last July.

The June 6th’s expiry of the waivers means the EU has restored a pre-war regime of trade quotas, pending the conclusion of a new longer-term trade deal with Kyiv.

The re-establishment of the quotas was "a crucial first step" towards rebalancing the market, French wheat farmers' union AGPB said in a statement.

It reinstates a duty-free quota of 1 million tons annually for wheat and 350,000 tons for barley. Adjusted for the seven months left in 2025, that represents about 583,000 tons of wheat and 204,000 tons of barley available for ...More info on site

Brewery news UK: Keystone Brewing Group to invest £2 mln in next phase of its growth
Keystone Brewing Group has announced a £2M investment into the business, to support the next phase of its growth, following a period of expansion, The Business Desk reported on June 10.

The Group, which also includes West Midlands’ Purity Brewing Co, is forecasting a doubling of its revenue in the next 12 months. Its expansion has seen iconic brands including Hofmeister, North, Four Pure and Magic Rock added to its portfolio.

The latest investment, funded by BREAL Group shareholders, will allow Keystone to support this growth and meet increasing demand for its products. It will also allow the brewing company to facilitate a larger capacity, along with production of broader, more diverse inventory across its portfolio.

Planned infrastructure upgrades include new delivery vehicles to strengthen national distribution capabilities and a 6,000 hectolitre increase in annual fermentation capacity at Purity Brewing Co.

Steve Cox, CEO of Keystone Brewing Group, said: “This investment marks a further major milestone for Keystone as we continue to scale. With new breweries and brands joining the group and demand rising, it gives us the agility and infrastructure to expand capacity while staying true to the quality and character of each of the brands. We’re well-equipped to grow in a ...More info on site

Whisky news UK: Suntory discontinues plans for a hydrogen plant at Auchentoshan Distillery in Scotland
Suntory Global Spirits has discontinued plans to build a £60 million green hydrogen site at the Auchentoshan Distillery in Scotland after government funding was denied, The Drinks Business reported on June 9.

Suntory Global Spirits and partner Marubeni, a Japanese trading company, first announced plans to build a hydrogen plant to decarbonise whisky production in August 2024.

The plant was due to become part of Suntory’s Auchentoshan Distillery, a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Dalmuir, Scotland.

Suntory’s plans to build the hydrogen plant followed the company’s announcement in April 2024 that it had succeeded in the first direct-fired distillation trial using 100% hydrogen. The distillation, undertaken at its Yamazaki Distillery in Japan, was part of its WhiskHy project to carry out feasibility studies for green hydrogen-based decarbonisation technology at Beam Suntory-owned distilleries. The project was funded by the UK government’s Green Distilleries Competition.

Suntory and partner Marubeni applied for Government funding for the HyClyde Auchentoshan project in April 2024.

However, the plans received backlash from locals who feared that the instability of hydrogen could impact the health of people in the community and devalue their properties.

One resident, who spoke to the Clydebank Post, said: “It’s an unproven technique. They keep saying it’s cutting ...More info on site
