Interbrew has won crucial time to sell the Bass unit.
After having bought Bass PLC in August last year, Interbrew SA was ordered by the British Court to sell the Bass unit again in January because - in combination with their other recent acquisition, the brewing operations of Withbread PLC - their acquisition would give the Belgian company a too large share of the British Beer market. After seeking a review of this decision, Interbrew has gained a favourable decision from the Court and therefore won crucial time to sell the Bass unit under more flexible and less pressured conditions.
