Norwegian beer-to-media group Orkla ASA plans to close a brewery jointly owned with Denmark's Carlsberg in west Norway with the loss of about 100 jobs, Norway's NRK public radio said on Monday, according to Reuters. It said that a final decision about the Tou brewery in Stavanger, west Norway, would be taken on Wednesday. Orkla's breweries are part of Carlsberg Breweries, a joint venture in which Carlsberg holds 60 % and Orkla 40 %. "No decision has been made," said Orkla spokesman Rune Helland when asked about the NRK report. He reiterated that Orkla has previously warned that closures might be made in Norway as part of a rationalisation drive.
