| E-Malt.com News article: USA: Hofbrauhaus Celebrates Its 2,000,000 liter of beer
Hofbrauhaus Newport, which opened in 2003, anticipated it would pour its two-millionth liter of beer, according to The E.W. Scripps Co., April 16.
The stack of glasses began the countdown – followed by a good chicken dance.
The owner credits a couple reasons for the restaurant's success.
"There's a lot of German heritage in the Cincinnati area and people love this fresh, brewed beer," said Eric Haas, owner of Hofbrauhaus Newport. "So, it's easy to go through a lot of liters and we've made it to 2-million liters in five years."
A dark brew filled the 2,000,000th liter poured.
The brew master carried it to the lucky customer himself.
Kurt Vollmer, of Walton, ordered the special stein.
He was treating his wife to a birthday dinner and went home with a gift basket filled with prizes.
