E-Malt.com News article: Belgium: Duvel-Moorgat sells Straffe Hendrik beer back to its founder
Brewery news

Belgium’s Duvel-Moortgat brewery has sold the Straffe Hendrik brand bought with the takeover of Liefmans back to De Halve Maan brewery which founded the brand in 1981, the Off Licence News communicated on September, 30.

Duvel-Moortgat said it had decided to concentrate on the Liefmans fruit beers, plus De Gouden Band and Oud Bruin, which it bought from the administrators of Liefmans earlier this year, after the company went bust at the end of 2007.

Straffe Hendrik has not been produced since Liefmans went under, and was only ever sold on the UK market in small quantities.

De Halve Maan is planning to relaunch the high abv blonde Straffe Hendrik brand under its final recipe before the end of the year.
