E-Malt.com News article: Australia: Coopers beers see demand as high as the temperature across South Australia and Victoria

Coopers Brewery, Australia’s largest independently-owned brewer, saw its beer sales increase as a result of recent heat wave conditions across South Australia and Victoria, it was reported on the company’s website on February, 6.

“In the past 10 days or so, sales have jumped around 5% above normal levels with strong demand from regional areas of the State,” Coopers Brewery’s Chairman and Marketing Director, Mr Glenn Cooper, said.

“Our retailers tell us that sales last weekend were particularly strong. Beer sales normally spike during heat wave conditions. However, this year, the spike has grown in line with the extreme conditions,” he shared.

Mr Cooper said one interesting trend had been the increase in demand for Coopers Mild Ale, a mid-strength beer with 3.5% alcohol by volume, compared to 4.5% for Coopers Original Pale Ale.

“Mid strength beers are particularly strong in Queensland and Western Australia, but are only just
being discovered in South Australia,” he said.

“Coopers drinkers can be assured that they will always be able to get stocks of their favourite brew, no matter how hot the weather gets,” he said.

“As we produce 1200 bottles per minute, I think we will be able to keep up with demand.”
