The law providing punishment for consumption of beer in public places has come into force in Kazakhstan since August 2, assistant press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Ernur Uali, was quoted as saying by the Turkish Weekly on August, 7.

According to Mr. Uali, "the amendments have been introduced to article 336 of the Code on Administrative Offences, where the word 'spirits' has been replaced with 'alcoholic drinks'.
