E-Malt.com News article: Canada: January – November beer sales top 20 mln hl

Canada’s total beer sales in November 2010 amounted to 1.64 mln hl, of which 1.46 mln hl of domestically produced beer and 231.9 thousand hl of imported brands, Brewers Association of Canada reported on February, 8.

The total sales volume declined by 0.5% versus the same month in 2009, the Association said.

Beer in bottles accounted for the majority of total volume of domestic brands sold, at 803 thousand hl; beer in cans – for 511 thousand hl; draught beer – for 148.5 thousand hl.

The year-to-date sales of beer in Canada reached 20.9 mln hl. Sales of local brands amounted to 17.9 mln hl in January – November 2010, beer in bottles accounted for 9.58 mln hl.
