Swedish conglomerate, Baltic Beverages Holding (BBH), has finished the necessary procedures regarding the acquisition of 100% of Kazakhstan’s brewery Ak-Nar based in Alma-Ata city, Russian press reported on November 26. BBH is to invest about US$ 40 million. As a result Scandinavian company BBH is becoming the owner of three Kazakhstan’s beer brands: Derbes, Irbis and Alma-Ata. That was the announcement made by Edward Babayan, the president of Ak-Nar in Alma-Ata. Now BBH owns 90% of Ak-Nar, 6% is owned by the company Tsesna and 4% is owned by TOO Kanon. According to a spokesman of Ak-Nar, the company controls 11% of the Kazakhstan beer market. Its production capacity comes to 40 million litres per year.
