E-Malt.com News article: Germany: January – March beer sales decline by 0.4%

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on May, 2, the beer producing and storing establishments in Germany sold 20.8 million hectolitres of beer in the first quarter of 2011.

That represents a decrease of 0.1 million hectolitres (–0.4%) from the corresponding period of the previous year.

Consumption in North-Rhine Westphalia was 5.1 (5.2) mln hl, in Bavaria 4.6 (4.6) mln hl and in Lower Saxony 2.3 (2.2) mln hl, it is reported.
