Broad Street Brewing Company is open for business in downtown Reinbeck, but the dream has yet to have been totally fulfilled for owner Trevor Schellhorn, Times-Republican reported on July, 5.

A delay on a license has put Schellhorn's ability to sell the beer he has made on hold for a few weeks.

The business held a three-day opening anyway to coincide with Reinbeck's 4th of July celebration.

Schellhorn scrambled the past few months to get everything ready, which includes a tasting room where visitors can see the big tanks that hold his beer. Schellhorn had the tanks and other beer-making equipment shipped from England this past winter.

"I was disappointed not to have everything in place," Schellhorn said. "This summer we'll have it up and running."

Over the weekend the business had other Iowa-made beer on tap for guests to enjoy.

"I think this is fabulous," said Dixie Langton, of Reinbeck, who was enjoying a beer while the parade was going on a block away Monday. "It's unique for our small town and I think it's going to draw people in."

In its limited time open, Schellhorn said the business has had visitors from Alabama and Florida and one man who said it was his 699th brewery visited.

"We are bringing people from all over," Schellhorn said. "I like that we are not just relying on people from the community."
