Blackstone Brewing Co., which has been making beer inside its West End restaurant location since 1994, has recently re-entered the bottled beer business, with the aid of an expanded brewery on Clifton Avenue, Nashville Business Journal reported on December, 20.

The new facility produces, bottles, kegs and packages beer for distribution in bars, stores and restaurants. The beer is distributed locally by Ajax Turner Co.

Much of the brewing and fermenting equipment in the Clifton facility was custom-made for Blackstone and installed by German companies. The new facility has an annual capacity of 10,000 barrels.

Taylor says the company has gone to great lengths to match the taste of the beer at their new Clifton brewery with the beer at their West End restaurant. He says they disposed of their first 11 batches, or 11,000 gallons of beer, because the batches weren't adequately matched to the West End beers.
