Carlsberg breweries will be the official sponsor of the European Championship 2004 hold in Portugal. The relevant contract was signed by Nils S. Andersen, the CEO of Carlsberg and Lennart Johansson ,the President of UEFA, on March 22,2002.

Sponsorship of important football tournaments has become a tradition for Danish giant, Carlsberg having been the official sponsor of Euro'88, Euro finals from 1992, Euro'96 and Euro 2000.

Carlsberg hopes that the sponsorship of the most significant sportive event from 2004 will have ,at least, the same outcome on the company’s sales volume as the sponsorship of Euro 2000 had. That sponsorship brought to Carlsberg an increase in sales of 11% during the period and an annual growth in sales of 5.4 %.
