| E-Malt.com News article: USA, OR: Harvester Brewing now selling beers in stores
Portland's first gluten-free brewery, Harvester Brewing, is now brewing, bottling and distributing beers out of its southeast Portland production facility, Kptv.com reported on May, 21.
Harvester Brewing uses chestnuts from a McMinnville farm instead of barley, wheat and rye. The chestnuts are roasted over the course of an hour in a gas-fired nut roaster to prepare them for the beer.
"By roasting them, you're building some complexity. It creates a really nice flavor from the chestnut - that slightly roasted nut flavor," said brewer James Neumeister.
The beers are available at restaurants, bottle shops and grocery stores throughout Portland, including at New Seasons Markets.
