| E-Malt.com News article: USA, WA: The Orchard Bay Brewing Co. to open in Port Orchard in 2013
The Port Orchard investor who envisions a Pike Place-style market in downtown is pulling together plans for an upscale brewery and restaurant in the spirit of Silver City Brewery, Kitsap Sun reported on September, 30.
The Orchard Bay Brewing Co., set to open some time in 2013, will have a 450-gallon production capacity.
Former Silver City general manager Josh Klein will oversee the restaurant. Michael Kaperick, a Gig Harbor tasting judge, will be Orchard Bay's brewmaster.
Ryan has been working on his brewery idea for two years.
Ryan got the idea for a brewery after meeting Kaperick at a home-brewers club.
"I just have a habit of not being able to do anything as a hobby," said the energetic Ryan, president of Port Orchard Bay Street Association. "I love brewing at home. My mind just works on a different level sometimes."
Orchard Bay will join the recently opened Slaughter County Brewing Co. in South Kitsap's emerging microbrew market.
"We believe by building this, we're going to have quite a venue for keeping people in our town, and we're going to have a destination that will draw people from out of town," Ryan said.
