| E-Malt.com News article: USA, AL: Good People Brewing Co. to triple production capacity
Birmingham-based Good People Brewing Co. will triple its production capacity in a move that will open the specialty beer brewer's distribution channel beyond Alabama, al.com reported on October, 25.
The project will add fermentation tanks and a new canning line at the company's taproom and brewing facility, located in downtown Birmingham. Production will grow to 15,000 barrels annually, up from 5,000 now, and distribution will stretch across the Southeast.
"We take great pride in being a part of the resurgence of our great city and the many exciting things taking place in our area," Michael Sellers, Good People's co-founder, said.
Good People, Alabama's largest independent micro brewer, began brewing its beer locally in 2007. Sellers, along with co-founder Jason Malone, became pioneers in a Birmingham beer-brewing movement that helped prompt state legislation allowing the sale of high-gravity and gourmet beer in bars, restaurants and stores.
Good People recently announced a plan to open a restaurant and bar at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
