Femsa , the biggest brewery from Mexico has made public its financial results for the first quarter of 2002. Thus, the Mexican brewer has been able to please its shareholders by posting sales of Ps. 11.358 milliard for the first quarter of 2002 which is a growth of 6% over the first quarter of 2001.
Femsa’s operating income increased at its tour by 7,9% , reaching the value of Ps. 1.537 milliard. As a result of this increase the operating margin for the first quarter of 2002 was of 13.5%, and the net income raised by 28.7% amounting to Ps. 628 milliard.
Femsa said that these positive financial results are due to better results in its beverage divisions and in its retail operations and represent at the same time an outcome of the company’s strategy targeted at margin expansion and continued improvement of the group’s competitive force.
