Echo Brewing Co. of Frederick announced March, 20 that it plans to open a second brewery in Historic Old Town Erie this summer.

The brewery, which will be called Echo Brewing Cask and Barrel, will focus on cask ale and barrel-aged beers. The company did not disclose an address for its Erie brewery, but said it should have a space under contract soon.

Echo Brewing is owned by Dennis and Daniel Richards, brothers from Erie. They opened their Frederick brewery in April.

Echo's announcement comes a few months after the owners of Atom Brewing Co. said they would bring to downtown Erie the town's first craft brewhouse. Atom is expected to open this spring.

Eastern Boulder County is experiencing a sudden explosion in breweries and taprooms, with a second brewery headed to Louisville this year and three destined for Lafayette.
