| E-Malt.com News article: USA, CO: Echo Brewing to open second location in Erie and contract brew beers for Atom Brewing
Echo Brewing, which celebrated its first anniversary past weekend in Frederick, has decided to open a second brewery in Old Town Erie, westword.com reported on April, 16.
Until that's ready, though, Echo will also serve as a jumping-off point for a second brewing company that plans to open in Erie: Atom Brewing.
Atom founder and longtime homebrewer Jeff Porn has been planning a brewery in that town for several years. In the meantime, Echo will contract brew beers for Atom and serve them at its current location, and eventually at the new one as well.
"Once that's open, that will be my primary location; however, I will actually brew out of both locations," Porn says. After a year or so, he hopes to open his own taproom.
"With our plans, we need a unique location that can accommodate what we want to do and our primary goal is to have that location in Erie," he adds.
Echo owners Daniel and Dennis Richards haven't given the specific address for the new brewery, which will be called Echo Brewing Cask and Barrel.
So far, they have also declined to provide any other details except to say that the focus of the second location will be "brewing cask ale, barrel aged beers."
