Tributary Brewing Co. brewmaster Todd Mott signed a lease to rent a space at Post Office Square in Kittery, Maine to bring his brewery to town, Seacoast reported on October 2.

Tributary Brewing Co., a microbrewery that will offer beer tastings, could open as soon as March, according to Mott.

He said he is hoping to begin renovations by mid-October, and to get the equipment by February for a March opening.

Mott has been waiting to open his own brewery since leaving Portsmouth Brewery in 2012. He had hoped to open his doors as early as this fall, but there have been several challenges along the way.

Among them, the town did not include microbreweries among its allowed uses, so the Planning Board created a "specialty food and beverage facility" ordinance to pave the way.
