| E-Malt.com News article: USA, MN: Northgate Brewing moving to a larger space
Northgate Brewing used to have the smallest brewery in the Twin Cities. Not anymore. The one-year-old company, which specializes in British ales, is moving to a 7,400-square-foot converted warehouse, Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal reported on January 24.
The new premises are about 10 times as large as the current brewery, and will allow Northgate to have a 1,500-square-foot taproom.
Co-owner Adam Sjogren said Northgate signed a lease last week and, if plans go accordingly, the new brewery will be up and running late this summer.
"When we started this we didn't know if people would want British session ales, so we kept it small," Sjogren said. "We thought there was an uncovered gap in the beer drinking marketplace. We found out pretty quickly that people like it, and we hit capacity way earlier than we anticipated."
