Lost Province Brewing Company has found a niche in downtown Boone, MountainTimes.com reported on August 13.

The craft brewery and wood-fired pizzeria opened Aug. 8 to an audience hungry — and thirsty — for fresh, local fare, and, according to CEO and co-owner Lynne Mason, Lost Province was happy to oblige.

“We’re thrilled about it, and we’re equally thrilled to be part of the downtown community,” she said. Lost Province is truly a family affair. The brewpub is owned by the husband-and-wife team of Lynne and Andrew Mason, the latter of whom serves as chief operating officer and director of brewing operations.

Andrew Mason, however, is not one for titles.

“When I’m in that room,” he said, referring to Lost Province’s brewhouse, “I’m just a brewer.”

His twin brother, David Mason, is executive chef, and Andrew and Lynne’s son, J.P., is pizzaiolo (pizza chef).

Together, the Masons bring a family dynamic to the table that happily combines business with pleasure.

“We’ve had a lot of fun planning this venture,” Lynne Mason said. “Most of all, we want our guests to have fun. We’ve just been open (a few) days, but we already have some regulars. It’s just kind of that neighborhood brewpub. It’s a full-service restaurant with a full menu.”

“We’ve got 12 taps (at the bar), and we’re going to try to keep, at least, 10 filled with our own beers,” Andrew Mason said. “We’ll keep some guest beers on tap, too, just for fun.”

There is also 13th tap, which he plans to use for CO2 to present Lost Province beer with minimal oxidation. The brewpub will also unveil a growler program, in which patrons can purchase a half-gallon of beer and return the bottle at a later date for a discounted refill.
