| E-Malt.com News article: USA, MA: Wormtown Brewery to move to expanded facility
Wormtown Brewery will officially move into its expanded facility on Shrewsbury Street next week and its plans to open a tap room for public tastings are to set move forward in February, masslive.com reported on January 2.
Managing Partner David Fields said on January 2 that the construction of their new, larger facility on 72 Shrewsbury St. is complete and that they’ll begin brewing at the location as early as next week.
Planning for this expansion began over a year ago in the fall of 2013 in response to high demand for product. Fields has said they’re regularly getting requests for the beer from retailers and wholesalers that they simply couldn’t fill out of their former location at Peppercorn’s on Park Avenue.
Once brewing gets underway at the new facility, Wormtown expects they’ll be able to sell their brews statewide for the first time in the company's nearly five years in existence.
“Once we get the brewing under our belt, we’ll be looking to open our tap room, possibly in late February,” Fields said.
He said they’d like to host a grand opening along with their celebration of five years in business on St. Patrick’s Day, but no firm plans have been made yet.
A new state classification allows for the brewery to apply for a Farmer Series Pouring Permit, rather than a full pouring license, that will allow tastings to occur on site alongside Wormtown’s continued sale of growlers and six-packs.
Scheduled tours are also set to eventually be offered in the new space.
As for Wormtown’s old space on Park Avenue, Fields said a new, exciting venture is being planned for the space – though not by them.
“It’ll be very good for Worcester,” said Fields, though he declined to comment further.
