A new microbrewery in Rocklin wants to separate itself from the traditional bar scene - so much, in fact, that it includes purse hooks for its female guests, Sacramento Business Journal reported on February 5.
"We wanted to make something that was women-friendly," said Dan Acuff, chief operations officer for Dragas Brewing Industries Inc.
The business at 5860 Pacific St. expects to hold its grand opening on Feb. 14. It covers nearly 5,000 square feet and will include 10 beer taps. Acuff expects to serve seven regular brews and three rotating varieties.
Its website lists brews such as a "stout of fire," which combines vanilla flavors with a chili pepper infusion.
Dragas Brewing will feature a microbrewery and tasting room, but will not serve its own food. Instead, Acuff will coordinate with local food trucks.
The family-owned business also includes Acuff's wife, Diana Acuff, and his brother, Shane Acuff. His friend, Dylan Clark, is the master brewer.
Acuff was originally interested in wine. "We used to have this romanticized dream of owning a vineyard and a winery," he said. After realizing how long it would take to develop wine that was ready to sell, his attention turned toward beer.
Acuff said a spacious tasting room makes Dragas Brewing unique. He designed the area with business professionals in mind.
