Highlander Brew Co. has announced the launch of a campaign to help it raise funds for an ambitious brewery move and expansion, with a series of exclusive beers planned to be brewed for supporters, Canadian Beer News reported on April 20.
As announced last November, the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor) is providing a grant for the construction of an 8,500 square foot complex that is intended to be a community and tourist hub for the village of South River. The anchor of the complex will be the new Highlander facility, which will be a “a Destination Brewery that will encourage tourism in the area and provide a focal point for music, arts and social events,” and will also provide training space for a new Brewery Technician program that is being started by a local college.
In order to fund the move and expansion, Highlander is looking to raise C$100,000 via an Indiegogo campaign, and among the perks for contributors is a series of four seasonal beers to be available starting in the spring of 2016.
