| E-Malt.com News article: USA, OH: Woodburn Brewery to open this fall in Cincinnati
Joining the host of craft brewers that have bubbled up in Cincinnati in the past few years, a new microbrewery is set to open this fall in East Walnut Hills, WCPO reported on May 10.
Co-owners Chris Mitchell and Dennis Chacón said they plan on opening The Woodburn Brewery at 2800 Woodburn Ave, Cincinnati.
The new brewery and taproom will be housed in a 4,000 square foot unique building that dates back to the early 1900s. It should have a capacity for about 120 people.
Both men have been active in the Cincinnati homebrewing scene, and Mitchell is a longtime employee at Listermann Brewing Company. Mitchell is well known to local brewers and homebrewers for his brewing expertise during his tenure on the homebrew supply side of the company.
Mitchell and Chacón met at Listermann and toyed with the idea of starting a brewery for years. At first, Mitchell said he took the idea as seriously as all the other people he would hear from about launching a brewery.
“Every third person who came through the shop says they want to start a brewery. Dennis was one of those third persons. But we started chatting and I realized that we had a lot of similar interests and values,” Mitchell said. “It all just clicked.”
It took them about two years to finalize their business plan and to get the construction going.
The pair said they plan on producing about 500 bbls in their first year, with an upper range of 1,000 bbls in the best-case scenario. That said they plan on focusing on selling entirely from the taproom for the first year with a very limited distribution plan.
