Minnetonka-based Lucid Brewing has bought American Sky Brewing Co., a craft beer company based in Hudson, Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal reported on June 18.

Lucid Brewing announced the deal on June 15. Lucid Brewing’s co-founder Jon Messier and American Sky Brewing co-founder Molly Harris did not disclose the terms of the deal.

The June 1 sale included the brand and business assets but no real estate, said American Sky General Manager Kati Schenz.

The two companies will maintain separate brands.

Harris and her husband Greg founded American Sky Brewing in 2011, then known as Hudson Brewing Co. It has brewing operation that produces about 2,000 barrels a year, Schenz said.

The deal with Lucid Brewing will give American Sky Brewing broader distribution and more production capacity.

American Sky Brewing will add Minnesota distribution under Lucid Brewing’s ownership, Schenz said. The company's brewing operations will move to Lucid Brewing's facility in Minnetonka. Schenz said they hope to begin selling in Minnesota by the end of the year.

“Since we began in 2011, our focus has been on production and distribution,” Lucid Brewing’s co-owner Jon Messier said in a prepared statement. “The American Sky Brewing’s team is talented and we are excited to work together to improve the customer experience.”
