| E-Malt.com News article: USA, AL: Green Bus Brewing to launch brewhouse in Huntsville in December
Jason Sledd's home brewing days started modestly in the late '90s with a Mr. Beer kit purchased from a local department store.
Sixteen years later, the 41-year-old cable technician and father of two is moving forward with his dream to open a nanobrewery and taproom in Huntsville.
Jason Sledd, along with business partners Carey Huff and Jeff Sanders, is launching Green Bus Brewing in a former lawyer's office on 206 Eustis Ave. in downtown Huntsville. Sledd hopes to open in December, but it may be January or February before the 1.5-barrel brewhouse is operational, AL.com reported on August 4.
Unlike some of Huntsville's other top breweries, Green Bus Brewing won't distribute products to stores, restaurants and bars through a wholesaler.
"We want to be a true neighbourhood nanobrewery and feel that downtown Huntsville is the perfect location for us," Sledd said.
The 150-year-old building, which will span nearly 2,300 square feet, will undergo a complete overhaul over the next few months as Green Bus Brewing.
"It adds another important piece to the innovative and creative culture in the city centre," Emerson said.
Sledd, Huff and Sanders are investing $100,000 in the small operation, which will start with eight craft brews and operate inside the Quigley Arts & Entertainment District. Sledd said the beer selection will change frequently as he takes requests from the community.
"We've already started pencilling in beer ideas from the public," Sledd said. "I think a Tiramisu Beer is in the works!"
