Kevin Peil, the owner of Tri-City Brewing Co., calls his business one of Bay City's best kept secrets, MLive.com reported on October 12.

That's mostly due in part to its obscure location, tucked away in the northern corner on the East Side of the city's limits. There's no signage from the road and if you're driving east on Woodside Avenue toward Essexville, the only chance of seeing any identifier of the business, located at 3020 N. Water St., would be through a rear view mirror.

"You wouldn't believe how many people come in here from Bay City for the first time and are amazed that we've been here for as long as we have," Peil said. "We don't have any big signs, we really don't do any advertising, and that's because, pretty much up until this point, we couldn't."

That's all potentially about to change.

Earlier this month, Peil closed on a 3.5-acre property on Shrestha Drive in Bangor Township near the Bay County Civic Arena. He bought the land for $115,000 from Henry Street Investments, a local real estate and property management company run by Mitzi Dimitroff, daughter of Bay City developer Paul Rowley.

Peil currently is in talks with architects and engineers to see how much it would cost him to build a new facility and move his brewing operation and tap room to the west side of the Saginaw River. He said a decision is likely to come by year's end.
