CBC News PEI reports that the first brewery on the eastern end of Prince Edward Island is planning on opening later this year.

Copper Bottom Brewing is being founded by singer-songwriter Ashley Condon and her husband Ken Spears in the town of Montague, located approximately 45 km east of Charlottetown.

With funding assistance from several government loan and grant programs, the couple will be starting construction of the brewery this month in the Eastern Graphic building in downtown Montague, with an aim to have beer flowing by this summer. In addition to the brewery, Copper Bottom will also feature a taproom and live entertainment venue.
