Carlsberg, the Danish brewing group, has purchased a 67% share of Prinsko Pivo, the Bulgarian brewer, from a group of institutional and private investors. The value of deal is undisclosed. In conformity with the Bulgarian law, the company must now make a public offer for the remaining shares in Prinsko Pivo.
Prinsko Pivo holds a 12% stake of the Bulgarian beer market, and in 2001 the company recorded around $8 million of sales.
An other recent investment of Carlsberg in Bulgarian beer market is the acquisition of a 59.4% share in Bulgarian brewer, Shumensko Pivo, which holds 8% of local market.
