E-Malt.com News article: Ukraine: Ukraine starts winter barley harvest

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Agriculture, harvesting of cereals already started in Kherson and Odesa regions as of June 22. The farmers have harvested the first 2.5 thousand tonnes of winter barley from 780 ha with an average yield of 3.14 t/ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Farmers have harvested 2.3 thousand tonnes of barley from 740 ha in Kherson region and 200 thousand tonnes from 40 ha in Odesa region, it is reported.

The total area planted to crops for the 2017 harvest is expected at 26.9 mln ha, or 152 thousand ha more than in 2016.
