A new brewpub is headed to Milford with a familiar name: Mispillion River Brewpub, the Milford Chronicle reported on February 28.

“There’s a lot of changes coming to Milford and a lot of growth. The time is now; we’re ready to make a change,” Brewmaster Ryan Maloney of Mispillion River Brewing said.

The brand began five years ago as a brewery in a building off of Airport Road amidst construction and health-related businesses. The owners plan on continuing at this location and expanding the business to include the brewpub to be located on S. RT. 1 in Milford.

“We started in Milford. We named the brewery after the dividing river in Kent and Sussex Counties. And we plan on staying in Milford,” Mr. Maloney added.

It will take anywhere from 8–12 months to complete the brewpub which they hope will then become a destination where people can celebrate locally crafter beers and food.

With local chef Kevin Reading of Abbott’s Grill and Brickworks, a brewpub in Smyrna created through a similar collaboration between Mispillion River Brewing and Mr. Reading, the leadership behind the local brewery is confident Mispillion River Brewpub will succeed.

Eric Williams, el presidente, said,” We are excited to bring the Mispilion River Brewing experience to a brewpub. We have some interesting ideas that will raise the stakes on the brewpub experiences in Delaware.”

The success of the Milford-based brewing company grows every year, many times doubling the production numbers from the year before, according to Mr. Maloney. Keeping up with the demand will be Mispillion River Brewing’s next goal.

The brewpub may help the growth dilemma. With five seven-barrel fermenters and one 15-barrel fermenter, libations will be made at the brewpub for thirsty visitors to enjoy. Ingredients for the drinks and food will be sourced locally as much as possible, as well, Mr. Maloney added.

Live music and events will help the business stay active and thrive just as they have done previously at Mispillion River Brewing.

“We want you to feel the same way at the brewpub that you would feel here [at the original location],” Sales and Marketing Ninja Lauren Bigelow said. “It’s whimsical where you kind of feel like a kid again.”

The idea for the brewpub has been circulating around town for years as a rumor. Mr. Maloney and the rest of Mispillion River Brewing’s leadership is excited to say it is finally in the works.

“We’ve been talking about this for years. not everybody drinks beer, but everybody eats food,” Ms. Bigelow said.

Mr. Maloney agreed.

“We’ll be excited to not be tucked away in an industrial complex. We’ll be right where people can see us as they’re driving by. And hopefully, they’ll stop and enjoy Milford,” he said.
