U.S. antitrust enforcers said on Tuesday, October 05, 2004 they would not oppose a plan by Canadian brewer Molson Inc. (MOLa.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) to merge with U.S.-based Adolph Coors Co., according to Reuters. Antitrust authorities concluded their probe of the proposal without taking action to block the deal, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission said. Molson, Canada's oldest beer maker, said last month it expected to close the merger with Coors, the No. 3 U.S. brewer, by the end of the year.
