| E-Malt.com News article: USA, MI: Stormcloud Brewing Company launches new brewing facility in Frankfort
Frankfort’s Stormcloud Brewing Company has launched a new brewing facility capable of pumping out 4,500 barrels of beer a year, the Traverse City Record Eagle reported on April 12.
The facility, at 366 Parkview Lane, is at the east end of town. A tasting room at the new location is scheduled to open to the public on May 25 and will feature an outdoor beer garden similar to the company’s existing downtown brewpub, a few blocks to the west.
The massive new structure houses a 20-barrel brewhouse and a new canning system that can fill about 40 cans a minute. The canning line began operation in March with two of Stormcloud’s most popular brews: Whiled Away® IPA, a Belgian-style IPA and best seller in Stormcloud’s downtown Frankfort pub; and Rainmaker Ale, a Belgian-style Pale Ale that earned a bronze medal at Denver’s Great American Beer Festival.
Six packs of both beers have been distributed to stores in 11 Michigan counties, including the cities of Traverse City, Manistee and Ludington, a release said. As production increases, Stormcloud brews also will be distributed in Petoskey, Cheboygan, Alpena, Muskegon and Grand Rapids.
Public tours of Stormcloud’s new production facility will begin this summer. Stormcloud’s owners in 2016 announced plans to build the brewery and packaging plant.
