| E-Malt.com News article: USA, NY: North River Hops and Brewing to close down on June 30
Beer will stop flowing at a well-respected Hudson Valley brewery on June 30, wpdh.com reported on June 27.
With so many new breweries opening up in Dutchess County it's a great time to be a craft beer drinker. But sadly, one of the area's most popular breweries will be closing their doors for good at the end of the month.
Just before reaching their fourth anniversary, North River Hops and Brewing announced the closure on the Facebook page on Wednesday. According to a statement on their Facebook page the brewery will permanently close its doors.
There had been rumors that North River was looking for a new location with more room to expand, but now that is no longer a reality. In April, Cousin's Ale Works opened just a large brewery and tasting room across the street from North River on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls. It's unclear if this factored into the decision to close down.
A message to the brewery's customers, owners Brandin and Nicki Stabell explained how the decision to close wasn't an easy one.
“So much has gone into this business since its inception in 2012. We have poured our hearts and souls into its existence. We have painstakingly crafted recipe after recipe. This was one of the most difficult and necessary decisions we have ever had to make, but we leave with spectacular memories, giant smiles, and love - so much love - in our hearts.”
