| E-Malt.com News article: USA, TX: Circle Brewing starts construction of new brewery in Elgin
Construction has officially started on Circle Brewing’s new 13,000 square-foot brewery and taproom in Elgin, Texas - 23 miles east of their current location in North Austin, the Elgin Courier reported on August 27.
Brewery employees, city leaders, and architects from Dick Clark + Associates, the firm designing the facility, gathered in a socially distanced manner to break ground on the new site that sits on a 22 acre plot of land just 5 minutes from Historic Main Street, in downtown Elgin.
“When Jud and I started Circle Brewing in 2010, we knew that our ultimate dream was to eventually move a little further from the city and build a sustainable farm-style brewery. One of our leading principles is simplicity – simplicity in brewing, simplicity in design – and there is nothing simpler than getting back to nature and getting your hands dirty,” Ben Sabel said. After numerous setbacks, and amidst a global pandemic, Ben & Jud are finally seeing that dream come to life. “It’s been a difficult 2020, to say the least, but it was important for us to keep moving forward and lay the foundation for the future.”
Circle Brewing selected the award-winning Dick Clark + Associates - with extensive experience in the hospitality sector - to design the new brewery and taproom.
“Dick Clark + Associates immediately understood our vision and have fought every step of the way to ensure the project is done to our unique specifications. They have been incredible partners throughout the process,” said Sabel.
The 6,000 sqft taproom is designed inside a quonset hut, which looks out into the 8,000 sqft production brewery space that is home to a new state of the art 20 barrel brewhouse.
Once up and running, the brewery will be a hub for live music, community events, and will be a destination for craft beer lovers from all over. “We really want to embrace the culture and community of Elgin and become a part of Texas history,” said Sabel. “With 7 acres dedicated to growing wheat, barley, and hops, we plan to be the first brewery in Texas to brew a truly Texan beer, made entirely from ingredients grown on the farm. 100% Texan from seed to glass.”
“If you haven’t made it out to Elgin, make a point to. Elgin is what Texas is all about, and we’re excited to be a part of it and plant our roots here,” said Sabel.
Barring unforeseen delays, Circle hopes to open the new facility by summer 2021.
