| E-Malt.com News article: Canada, AB: Nine in a Line Brewing Co. holds soft opening in Vulcan
Friends Dan Anderson and Dave Markert had been chatting over beers on and off for 10 years about starting their own brewery.
And now it’s a reality, the Vulcan Advocate reported on September 13.
The Nine in a Line Brewing Co., located at 119 First Ave. N. in Vulcan, Alberta, had a soft opening last week, from Thursday to Saturday.
“We kind of officially decided to partner since February,” said Anderson, who’s known Markert for 30 years.
On tap Thursday September 9, opening day, were four beers, as well as a non-alcoholic lemonade.
Anderson said the idea behind the brewery’s taproom is that it will be a place where the community comes together.
“It’s a nice space to come and have a beer,” said Anderson about the tap room at Nine in a Line, which also had outside seating set up last week just outside its front doors.
Parents are welcome to bring their kids, said Anderson.
“It’s a full family thing,” he said.
The brewery first wants to prove the new business’s concept works locally before expanding, said Anderson.
With the local lake culture, Vulcan gets many people visiting from the cities who want to take in experiences in town, he said.
“Beer tourism is definitely a thing,” said Anderson.
Nine in a Line Brewing had limited opening hours for its first week, and Anderson says that will again be the case this week, when the business again plans to be open from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday. From the third week on, the business plans to be open longer those three days.
