Brewery news

A new brewpub is coming to Beamsville in May, serving up beer and food inspired by Europe, TheRecord.com reported on April 18.

Since 2019, Newark Brewing Company has been creating German- and Belgian-style craft beers with an emphasis on quality and tradition.

Now, they’re opening a restaurant and taproom, hoping to bring a taste of classic European beer to Niagara.

Or, as founder Griffin Data put it, “traditional beers with a Niagara flair.”

The venue, at 4766 Christie Dr., Beamsville, will feature a bar serving all of Newark Brewing’s beers, as well as guest beers, ciders and wines from Niagara.

The brewery is partnering with Bluecollar Catering to create a menu full of European classics to pair with the beer, including wurst and schnitzel with a beer-infused gravy.

Data hopes that they will be able to source everything locally, from the guest drinks to the food.

The mission, Data explained, is simple.

“We want good food, good beer, and we want people to leave satisfied,” he said.

Newark Brewing started making beers in March 2019 and its flagship beer, Dunkel Lager, debuted at the LCBO that November.

However, the pandemic made it hard for the brewers to get the beers into the hands of the public, and Data and the team have been hard at work building a proper home for the brewery.

They’ve installed a state-of-the-art brewing facility which will form the backdrop to the brewpub, showing the guests exactly where their drink was brewed.

Newark’s beers are all inspired by beers from Germany and Belgium, including a Dunkel Lager, Helles Lager, Belgian Wit and a Belgian Dubbel.

They also have capacity to brew interesting seasonal beers throughout the year.

Construction is still ongoing to finish the space, but the team hopes to open in mid-May, before the Victoria Day long weekend.
