United Breweries, Indian brewing and drinks force, declared the acquisition of main stake in Triumph Distilleries and Vintners, the vehicle led by drinks executive, Deepak Roy, which recently acquired the former UDV-owned Indian-produced whisky brands. United Breweries has purchased 85% stake in Triumph from financial investors for Rs600 million, making the acquisition through its spirits arm, McDowell & Co. Roy will retain a 15% stake in the company but according to reports UB has a call option on Roy's 15% stake after two years.
