| E-Malt.com News article: USA, CO: Breckenridge Brewery to take over SweetWater Brewing’s space in Fort Collins
SweetWater Brewing Co. will shutter its Fort Collins brewery this summer, but beer will continue to flow in its sprawling building, The Coloradoan reported on July 24.
Breckenridge Brewery will take over the space at 1020 E. Lincoln Ave. in early August, according to a news release from Breckenridge Brewery. SweetWater will shutter its Fort Collins operations around the same time, ensuring there is no interruption in business as the brewery changes hands, Andrea Green, a publicist representing the two breweries, confirmed Tuesday.
"The SweetWater Brewing Company taproom enjoyed a great run in Fort Collins for the past two-and-a-half years, but we think it's best for an iconic Colorado brand like Breckenridge Brewery to establish roots in Fort Collins, which is also home to some of the state’s most renowned craft breweries," SweetWater Brewing Co. said in a statement to the Coloradoan Tuesday.
Both breweries are owned by Tilray Brands, a global cannabis lifestyle and consumer packaged goods company.
The new location will be Breckenridge Brewery's third location. Its flagship brewery is in Breckenridge, which opened in 1990, and a second location can be found in Littleton. The new brewery will include a full restaurant and employ 40 people, including head brewer Ryan Joy, who previously brewed for SweetWater Brewing Co. in Fort Collins.
Breckenridge Brewery will celebrate its arrival in Fort Collins with a "first pour party" from noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 17.
SweetWater Brewing Co. has been in Fort Collins since 2021, when Tilray Brands purchased the former Red Truck Brewing Company building at 1020 E. Lincoln Ave. for $6.8 million, according to Larimer County property records. They opened the revamped taproom that December.
